Every sale of this e-book raises money for the Royal British Legion!
In November 2009 I rode the entire Western Front WW1 trench system for charity. I rode with a friend of mine, the two of us rode completely un-aided. No support vehicle, no back up team, we carried all our own kit and supplies. Just two guys, two bikes and 550 miles of trenches.
We were woefully under prepared, totally under equipped, massively under trained (well I was anyhow) and generally a bit naive. My bike was a 4 year old Halfords special and Steve bought his from eBay for fifty quid. Looking back I am amazed we managed to do what we did.
This short book keeps the story going...
It re-kindles some of the stories (some funny, some cringe-worthy) that were generated along the way and re-discovers some of the heroes who are buried in cemeteries or commemorated on memorials along ‘The Line’.
Their stories are much more worthy than our silly bike ride and if I could I would have written about every single one of them. Sadly this just isn’t possible, there are just eight men represented here. Eight men who fought and died during the First World War and whose final resting place is ‘a foreign field’.
Every sale of this book will raise money for The Royal British Legion in an extension of the fundraising from the original bike ride. I really hope this book is a success so we can raise loads more money for an important charity, so if you want to see what we got up to on the trip and want to read some inspiring stories of true heroes that fought and died ‘in a foreign field’ then buy the book and help a great cause!
Heroes of The Line eBook Scott Addington
The author and his friend undertook a charity bicycle ride along the length of the WW1 Western Front. The story recounts their adventures and misadventures along the way. It contains a number of poignant entries about the men who fought and died in the war. I would have liked to have seen more of these. My main quibble is the number of typos and grammatical errors sprinkled liberally throughout the book. I think the services of a proofreader should have been acquired.Product details

Heroes of The Line eBook Scott Addington Reviews
Not exactly disappointed, but the book is more about a bike trip across France than about the battlefields of WW1. Still, it's an entertaining read good for a slow afternoon.
